SUBTONOMY, the leading vendor of precision lawful intercept request technology, has announced it will exhibit at ISS World MEA (11-13 February 2025), showcasing its lawful intercept, secure data retention and geolocation services to the region’s law enforcement agencies, telecoms operators and emergency services.

Showcasing REX at ISS MEA 2025

ISS World MEA 2025 brings together law enforcement, intelligence and homeland security analysts, telecoms service providers and financial crime investigators who co-operate to investigate cybercrime, to improve public safety and to tackle serious crimes such as money laundering, human trafficking and terrorism. In the fight against organized crime and terrorism, and when time is of the essence to save human life, authorities need quick access to vital data. This year Subtonomy will be showcasing new features of its Lawful Intercept, Secure Data Retention and Geolocation solution REX, which helps telecoms operators fulfil their social and legal duties to provide telecoms data to lawful authorities by gathering data into ONE place and providing secure access to it. REX is a SaaS solution that’s designed to securely handle both geolocation and data retrieval requests while significantly reducing the amount of data storage required. It provides:

  • Results within 30 seconds with instant delivery to requesters

  • Streamlined workflow in ONE consolidated system

  • Accurate, error-free results

  • Secure remote access for SAR teams

  • Efficient data storage with a choice of installation methods (self-contained, Subtonomy supported, or anything in between).

Subtonomy’s Platform does the hard work of collecting data from underlying data sources such as probes, TAP files, IP databases, network elements and subsystems (such as billing records (CDRs), CRM etc), preprocesses it, and displays it in Subtonomy REX from where it can be exported (as required). This reduces costs, speeds data retrieval, and eliminates human error.

Showcasing new REX features in 2025

Subtonomy REX has been live in the digitally-advanced markets of the European region since 2017. At ISS World MEA, Subtonomy will be presenting alongside one of its customers to explain how they automated, secured and speeded their response to criminal investigations, lawful intercept, emergency requests, information provisioning and SAR requests.

Subtonomy will also share how to use REX for:

  • fast and secure IP-searches

  • cross location analysis

  • passive data location

  • integration of real-time and historical data

One of the biggest advantages of using a SaaS system such as REX is that it remains ‘evergreen’ – delivering new features on a regular basis to improve performance. In 2024, Subtonomy introduced polygon integration and new mapping formats. In 2025 it is showcasing even more new features such as cross-location analysis and IMSI location comparison to identify movement patterns across multiple network cells.

This might include historical data to determine an individual’s use of telecoms networks (eg where and when they connected to a network, as well as what they were accessing or using), real-time data to locate where one or more individuals are currently, as well as insight into movement patterns.

Proud to be short-listed for the World Communication Awards

Telecoms operators often talk about how they intend to make more money, serve their customers better, or differentiate against rivals. But when Telia Norway discovered it was not as efficient as rival operators at supporting search & rescue teams, it decided to overhaul its entire approach to help find people faster. To improve its performance, Telia introduced a secure, rapid and precise data retrieval and geolocation capability based on REX from Subtonomy.

The results speak for themselves. Using a range of advanced technologies, Telia Norway can now pinpoint lost and injured people to a 5-10 meter radius instantly, with the average time for a rescue dropping by 87% since they began this journey.

Its fantastic achievements in keeping people safer was acknowledged by a shortlisting for the World Communication Awards 2024. Find out more about Telia Norway’s inspirational approach here.
